Alaves midfielder Mubarak Wakaso will join Chinese Super League side Jiangsu
Suning for $3 million after undergoing a successful medical.
Wakaso edges closer to a move
to the Nanjing Olympic Stadium outfit after completing his mandatory medical
test at Milan on Monday.
The pugnacious midfielder
arrived in Italy ahead of proposed move to the Blue and White side after
fruitful negotiations.
Reports gathered indicate that
the 29-year-old will join Jiangsu Suning on a three-year deal after agreeing a
$3 million deal with parent club Deportivo Alaves.
He is expected to put pen to
paper on Tuesday before being unveiled at their iconic stadium on Wednesday.
Wakaso has been one of Alaves’
best players since joining them two seasons ago from Greek side Panathinaikos
in 2017.
He played
26 times for the club in the Spanish LaLiga.
Wakaso has previously played for
Panathinaikos, Elche, Villarreal, Espanyol, Celtic, Las Palmas and Granada.
The tough tackling midfielder has
represented Ghana at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, as well as four Africa
Cup of Nations tournaments.
In total, he has made 58
appearances for the Black Stars since making his full international debut in
2012 against Malawi in a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
