Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu has declared the sensation teenager Mathew
Anim Cudjoe will receive more first-team opportunities after netting his debut
goal in the 2-0 win over Ebusua Dwarfs on Sunday.
The
gaffer was left in awe of the talented 16 year old who climbed off the bench to
embellish a lackluster performance by the Porcupine Warriors.
Just as
the visitors looked destined to pick a point at the Baba Yara Stadium, super
sub Mathew Cudjoe broke the deadlock in the 85th minute with a delightful
finish before Richard Arthur doubled their lead a minute later to seal a hard
fought win.
Speaking
to reporters after the match, Coach Maxwell Konadu praised the youngster and assured
he will not hesitate to give him more playing time despite his tender years.
Kotoko
will travel to Accra to face arch-rivals Hearts of Oak next Sunday in the Super
clash and it is expected that Cudjoe will have hand on how things unfold.
“I
think he is ready, Brazil has been doing it, most of the countries have been
doing it at even the world cup stage.
“I
think when you see such a talent and you let it go, that won’t be fair to
Ghanaians,” he added.
“With
the talent he has, we need to encourage him and not to rush him but gradually
he is picking so let’s wait. We are not saying he is the one to change
everything for Kotoko but with time he can only get better.”
