which occasions increases in prices among others has become a hot topic for
political campaigns, with politicians promising elaborate ways to tackle the
problem.
The current government

expertise of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who led the charge on the
previous government on matters of the economy.
However over three years in
power, the phenomenon has continued with the opposition calling out Dr Mahamudu
Bawumia for failing to deliver on the Cedi.

Following the inauguration of
a Foreign Exchange Development Committee to look into foreign exchange flows in
the country, vigorous discussions have resumed on the issue of the depreciation
of the Cedi.
Nearly all media houses
interpreted the committee’s work to be to tackle how foreign exchange flows
ultimately causes depreciation of the Cedi but government officials have argued
that the committee is not tasked with investigating the depreciation of the
Cedi.
