Abedi Ayew, Ghanaian former
professional footballer known as Abedi Pele has been named by a popular French
football magazine as the 4th greatest African footballer of all time.
Abedi in his hay days played as an attacking midfielder and
served as captain of the Ghana national team. Abedi Pele was one of the
pioneers of African football in Europe. He was one of the first great African
players to make an impact on European club football.
He is the latest African footballer to be named as the ‘4th Greatest Footballer of All Time’. Liberia’s George Weah, Cameroon duo Samuel Eto’o and Roger Milla leaped-frog Pele to occupy the 1st – 3rd position on the list, Ghanaweb reports.
The
‘Maestro’ played for several European clubs and found his fame in the
French Ligue 1 with Lille and Marseille, where the
latter won the UEFA Champions League in 1993, among other
titles.

The likes of Drogba, Rabah Madjer,
Jay Jay Okocha, Mustapha Dahleb, Salif Keita, and Laurent Pokou made the list
of the top ten greatest footballers in Africa.
