The Chief Executive Officer of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr Daniel Asare has unfortunately tested positive for Coronavirus.
According to reports, he has been unwell for
almost two weeks until a test run on him proved he has contracted the virus. As
the norm is, three staff who work in his office have been isolated as tests are
being run on them.
As an immediate measure, the Medical Director of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr Ali Samba has taken up the CEO role for the time being.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s COVID-19 case count is now 14,568 with 10,907
recoveries and 95 deaths.
Some government officials who have also tested positive for
Coronavirus include the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, and the Chief
Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority, Lydia
Dsane-Selby.
However, the Minister for Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Okere in the Eastern Region, Dan Kwaku Botwe, have also been admitted at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) awaiting results of COVID-19 tests.
