I struggled For 13 Years Behind The Scenes Before Making A Hit – Akwaboah Recounts

Renowned Award-winning Ghanaian highlife artiste and keyboardist, Akwaboah born Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jnr has revealed that he spent almost 13 years behind the scenes before he finally made it as a mainstream artiste in Ghana.

He revealed that though his grandfather and his father are legends in the music industry, he had to struggle for years by playing for a band in order to be recognized as a talented artiste and instrumentalist.
He revealed “Yes Kwabena Akwaboah is my grandfather and Kwadwo Akwaboah is my father so I had music flowing through my veins. However, I didn’t get it easy at all from the beginning of my music career”.
Akwaboah made these revelations in an exclusive interview with Cape Coast’s finest radio personality, Amansan Krakye on GBC Radio Central, when he was asked whether he had it easy since he comes from a home of music legends.

He answered “If you look through you’ll realise that a lot of music legends in Ghana also have children but most of them have not made it in the music industry like me. It is by the grace of God and hard work that has brought me to this far.
“I didn’t get it easy because I have been roaming with the band that I play for. I have been behind the scenes preparing for my exposure. At least I have been playing in a band for about 13 years before I came out as a mainstream artiste”.
