Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the current Education Minister of Ghana,
has disclosed his experiences when he was admitted at the University of Ghana
Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra, to undergo treatment after testing positive for
COVID-19.
Speaking in an interview on Kokrokoo show of Peace FM with Kwami
Sefa Kai, he explained that, if not God, he would not be alive based on ill he
felt when he was on admission.
“But for God, I would not be alive,”

According to him, he was tested for COVID-19 several times, due to how ill he became but all the results came out negative which caused his health team to treat malaria but he still felt ill and weakness was persistent.
He added that he tested positive, whilst he was on admission,
hence he was admitted for 13 days and was discharged on the 14th day after he
recovered.
“I tested positive while on admission . . . ,” he
indicated.
“I thought I was going to die based on the condition when I was admitted,
but after I was stabilized, I knew the worst was over.
“What I went through, it was only by the Grace of God,” he
recounted and urged those who are not taking COVID-19 serious to have a mindset
change.

In his conversation with Kwami Sefa Kai, he revealed that over 90 percent of his staff have contracted the disease and five members of his family have also been affected by the virus.
“After my second result came out positive, testing was conducted
on all the staff. The majority were positive; out of 50, about 45 had
contracted the virus. Most of them have mild symptoms and are isolating at
home,”
