Director-General of GES ” Prof Kwasi Opoku Amankwah” has disclosed that 55 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19, and are receiving treatment, out of the total 314 staff and students that were traced following the six recorded cases of coronavirus in Accra Girls Senior High School.
He indicated in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kai on the Kokrokoo
show of Peace Fm that, the 259 individuals who tested negative have been
given permission to resume their normal activities whereas units have been
prepared to give adequate measures and counseling to combat stigmatization
against infected individuals in the school premises.
He explained that the Ghana Health Service would verify if the spread of the infection has gotten to the homes of the affected victims, hence urging parents to not panic.
“We have only informed the parents of the students who tested
positive . . . if a parent has not been called it means your ward was not
included,”
