A sad and shocking news trending has it that two boys have been burnt alive for allegedly stealing mobile phones.
Most prominent personalities have
expressed how this outrageous action of the residents shouldn’t be allowed and
have to be punished by the law.
Anja Ringgren Loven – a philanthropist who has rescued numerous children branded witches and abandoned in Akwa Ibom State – and Femi Fani-Kayode joined to express outrage after photos of the boys stripped naked with a tyre placed on them went viral. Another photo shows fire blazing, allegedly burning the boys’ bodies.
Per reports, the two boys were caught after they tried to escape after stealing a lady’s mobile phone at Komarock Estate, Nairobi, Kenya, on Saturday, August 8.
The
boys were then chased and caught by some bike riders who brutalized them
mercilessly, stripped them naked before setting them ablaze with some of the
parts of the motorbike.
A shopkeeper who was an eyewitness
said that “They
removed part of the motorcycle bought petrol and used it to end the lives of
the two young boys.”
The Commander of the Buruburu Police
Command, Adamson Bungei urged the youth in the community to desist from crimes
while condemning the mob attack
“It is time the youth stop involving in crime since the fruits are
so bitter. But members of the public should also not take action into their own
hands,” he said.
