Thomas Partey has passed the
first part of his Arsenal medical as a £45million move to the Premier League
club edges closer.
The Atletico Madrid midfielder
is set to fly to London to complete the second part of his medical and will
officially sign his contract tonight, according to the latest reports.
After becoming an Arsenal
player, he will fly to Turkey to link up with the Ghana squad.
Partey has been on the Gunners’
radar throughout the summer transfer window but they had been reluctant to meet
his £45m release clause.
Now, though, Arsenal have gone back in
for Partey and are hoping to do a deal before the 11pm deadline.
Samuel
Zigah, who is the 27-year-old’s PR officer, sent fans into overdrive earlier on
Monday by tweeting an emoji of an hourglass.
Arsenal are now willing to meet
the Ghanaian’s release clause in full, avoiding the need to negotiate with
Atletico.
