Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is set to miss the Africa Cup of
Nations double header against Sudan in Cape Coast later this week.
Partey did not return to the pitch after halftime in
the game against Aston Villa after he complained of discomfort in his left
thigh.
Ghana will face Sudan on Thursday, November 12, 2020
in the first leg of the qualifiers at the Cape Coast Stadium before they travel
to Khartoum for the return leg on November 17.
It is not just Partey who could
miss those two games.
The games will have to go ahead without China-based
Mubarak Wakaso, Spain-based Baba Iddrisu and US-based Harrison Afful who have
all withdrawn from the squad.
Wakaso is also set to miss the games after a failed
move to secure a flight from China to Ghana due to Covid 19
Columbus Crew, where Harrison Afful plays, have
refused to release the Ghanaian for the games, citing the risk involved in
travelling at this time as the major factor.
Afriyie Acquah, Kotoko’s Christopher Nettey, Bechem United’s
Prince Adu Kwabena and Mexico-based Clifford Aboagye are among players being
considered for late call ups, 3Sports understands.
