President Akufo-Addo will be taking a final decision on whether
school could open early January 2021.
Government earlier this year
ordered the closure of schools in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. This it
said is to help curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Cabinet is meeting today to
decide on whether schools should open and under what modalities.
This come after the Conference
of Heads of Assisted Senior Secondary schools (CHASS) called on the government
to make available Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to all institutions when
schools reopen.
Information Minister, Kojo
Oppong Nkrumah disclosed that today’s Cabinet meeting will decide on all that.
Oppong Nkrumah tweeted on
Tuesday 29 December 2020:
“President Nana Addo Dankwa
Akufo-Addo prepares to meet cabinet tomorrow for a decision on the possible
reopening of schools in January. Key on his agenda will be to examine the
proposals for assuring the safety of our children, should schools reopen.”
