The West African
Examinations Council (Waec) has released results of the 531,707
final-year junior high school (JHS) students who sat the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE)
in September.
“The Council will despatch the
results to the schools through the Metropolitan/ Municipal/District Directors
of Education,” said a press
release on Wednesday, December 16.
Meanwhile, the results have been hosted online for
easy access to candidates who may so wish to check via a scratch card.
According to the release signed
by Head of Public Affairs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, 417 candidates who brought foreign
materials into the examination halls had their subject results cancelled.
Forty-four, however, had their entire results
cancelled “for bringing mobile phones into the examination hall”.
Some 977 have had their results withheld, pending the
conclusion of investigations into various cases of alleged examination
malpractice.
“The withheld results of candidates may be cancelled
or released based on the outcome of investigations.”
