The police in the Greater Accra Region have killed one suspect who
is said to have been involved in the robbery of a bullion van belonging to GCB
Bank at Adansi Nyankomasu near Adansi Tewobabi in the Ashanti region.
Other two accomplices Jessy Osas
aged 26 years, believed to be the accomplice of Blessing Stephen and one Godwin
Hetor aged 26 years, a receptionist at Tonynam Guest House where the deceased
and Osas were lodging were arrested.
According to the Police,
Blessing Stephen, a Nigerian and a notorious armed robber who has been involved
in several robbery cases was hiding at Spintex, a suburb of Accra.
The Police upon a tip-off moved
to the location and upon seeing the Police, the suspect is said to have pulled
a sigpro pistol loaded with four rounds of 9mm ammunition but the loaded
magazine fell off from the pistol. In an attempt to pick and refix the
magazine, Police fired at him and he died instantly.
It will be recalled that on
January 2021, a police officer guarding a bullion van was killed by armed
robbers on the Adansi Fomena road in the Ashanti Region.
The police officer, identified
as Lance Corporal Martin Babah, died on the spot after he was shot by the
robbers numbering about 10.
The incident is said to have
happened at about 10:30 on Tuesday.
The robbers reportedly made away with an amount of GH¢500,000
which was in a bullion Van and one AK 47 assault rifle.
