A picture making rounds on social media has caught the attention of the Parliament of Ghana to officially react after a photo of John Mahama was seen behind the new speaker of parliament.

The picture of the speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin with a wall-mounted portrait of former president John Dramani Mahama in the background prompted several tongues to waggle in more indepth on the picture making rounds on the data superhighway.

The House disowned the said photo in a statement posted on the verified Facebook page of Parliament, stating:

“Please note, this photo is not from us and the page on which it was posted does not belong to the Parliament of Ghana.

Parliament has only one Facebook page which is verified and that’s where we post all authentic news and information from Parliament

The post also emphasized the need to promote the message of unity of the speaker and thus tasked individuals to abstain from using false propaganda to drag the chamber’s name into disrepute.

According to Mynewsghana checks, the dismissed photo is a doctored image of the robbed speaker with a wall-mounted photo of the former president. The original picture taken yesterday is of speaker Bagbin in the background with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
