There is fire brewing in the New Patriotic Party as some Members
of Parliament betrayed the party on their choice of Speaker of Parliament.
The party
nominated former Speaker Prof. Mike Ocquaye as their choice with the NDC opting
for Mike.
After a secret
ballot was casted only 135 of the 137 NPP voted for Mike Ocquare, the NPP’s
choice.
2 voted for
Alban Bagbin of the NDC and one decided to spoil his or her ballot.
Social media users have started
naming NPP MPs they believe could have voted against Mike Ocquaye.
Amongst the rumored names are
Sarah Adwoa Safo faced a tight competition with the son of Mike Ocquaye at the
NPP parliamentary primaries.
Another name is Kennedy Agyapong blasted Mike Ocquaye
who asking him to support his son against Adwoa Safo, his baby mama.
Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has also been mentioned
because of his relationship with Alban Bagbin as he even campaigned for him against
his own party candidate for the Nadowli parliamentary seat in 2016 when Bagbin
was having issues with the then NDC President, John Mahama.
MP for Sunyani East Ameyaw Cheremeh is another suspect having
made comments that the President shouldn’t nominate Mike Ocquaye as Speaker
because a good number of NPP MPs don’t like him.
