The Member of Parliament (MP) of the Tema West
constituency, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah has
threatened to take his revenge on the MP for Asawase, Mohammed-Muntaka Mubarak
and his “gang of miscreant” who “attacked and assaulted me on the floor of
parliament without any provocation”.
Mr Ahenkorah disclosed that the
physical attacks visited on him landed him in the hospital.
A letter from the Tema West
lawmaker’s office on 10 January 2021 indicated: “I greet you all from my
sick-bed at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. I have been diagnosed with head injury
with subdural hematoma. I am happy to announce to you that my treatment is
almost complete and I will soon be out of hospital”.
It continued: “On the
substantive issue, you Muntaka and your gang of miscreant MPs attacked and
assaulted me on the floor of parliament without any provocation. Nobody visited
such brutality on you during the Muntaka pampers and chinchinga saga. Indeed,
you have a very short memory and I am going to remind you of the atrocities you
committed against our country,” adding that: “Revenge, they say when served
cold is the sweetest”.
Mr Ahenkorah pledged to
retaliate the treatment meted out to him by the MPs from the National
Democratic Congress (NDC) on the floor of Parliament on 7 January 2021.
“I am your better when it comes
to thuggish behaviour, I am more agile. I heard Asiedu Nketia has been singing
your praise and calling you ‘warrior’. What have you conquered? I am coming for
you all!” the letter added.
Mr Ahenkora during the election
of a new Speaker of Parliament on 7 December 2020 snatched ballot papers and
attempted bolting.
He was accosted by some NDC MPs who according to him
allegedly assaulted him.
