Covid -19 Second Second Wave: Lockdown Might Hit Ghana Soon As DSD Releases New Updates On Active Cases

The Ghana Disease Surveillance Department (DSD) has released another update on the active cases of Covid-19 in the country, in a tweet issued by the DSD 58 minutes ago, the Covid-19 cases in Ghana as at 31st January, 2021 shows that the country is not as safe as we all take it to be. The number of active cases in the country has now risen to 5,786,with a total of 68,559 confirmed cases, 777 new cases, 433 deaths and a total of 62,340 recoveries/discharge. See screenshot photo from the Disease Surveillance Department official twitter handle below, (photos).

The number of new cases is very high almost getting to a thousand, this is as result of failure of citizens to adhere to the instructions given by the government, on how to prevent the disease from spreading very rapidly as it is now. From the information above, if the country continue to record more cases, then the government will have no choice than to impose Lockdown for some weeks, because that seems to be the only remedy for now that the government can use to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country, but the government will not think of imposing Lockdown if we all adhere strictly to the safety precautions given.

As a good citizen of Ghana, let’s have it at the back of our mind that Covid-19 is still out there, and anybody can contract the virus, therfore, remember to always mask up whenever you are going out for any occasion, and don’t forget to wash your hands with soap and running water regularly, and where soap and water is not available, use your hand sanitizer and don’t forget to maintain physical distancing whenever you are in a crowded area. Stay safe.
