Madam
Elizabeth Asantewaa, an aged Ghanaian woman who was sent to launch a bomb
attack on Ghana’s first president Dr. Kwame Nkrumah without her knowing is
currently in pain.
This came
out in an interview with Crime Check Foundation sighted by us on the official
YouTube channel of the charity organization.
Girl who was sent to bomb Dr Kwame Nkrumah at age 13 now old & in pain; speaks in video.
According to the woman, the incident happened on March 6, 1964, when at the age
of 13, she was given the honour of presenting a bouquet to Dr Kwame Nkrumah at
the Independence Square.
Little did the unsuspecting girl know that the bouquet given to her by the mastermind, Mallam Toura, contained a bomb that was meant to take the life of the president at the time.
When the bomb went off, the president was fortunately not injured but the young
girl lost her leg and has reportedly been in pain since that fateful day.
Dr
Nkrumah reportedly visited her on different occasions when he was president and
supported her till he was overthrown.
According to Asantewaa, she has been neglected by successive governments and is only waiting for death to send her home.
The Crime Check Foundation visited the woman and
gave her money and some items from their donors as part of the organization’s
Health Check Series.
In
another captivating story, Kofi Boahen, a Ghanaian father of six has narrated
that he is able to take care of his family with his menial business of frying
and selling local chips named “atsomor”.
