Aduana Stars defender Farouk Adams
has been granted bail by the Berekum Circuit court after a hearing on Thursday,
March 18.
Farouk was dragged to court for allegedly knocking a
police officer named Constable Amos Maatey Niganoka with a Toyota Camry vehicle
with registration number GW 5882-1 at the Asuotiano near Wamfie in the Bono
region and leaving him to die on March 1.
The center back was first charged with two counts at the
Fiapre Circuit Court, which are careless and inconsiderate driving and
negligently causing harm.
The case was then transferred to the Berekum circuit
court. At the Berekum Circuit Court, Farouk was further charged with four more
counts, which are failing to report the accident to the police, failing to stop
to attend to an accident victim, driving a motor vehicle without valid road user
certificates and driving a motor vehicle without valid insurance.
The Berekum Circuit Court on Thursday, March 4 remanded
Farouk to two weeks in prison and ordered him to appear before the court today
Thursday, March 18.
After the hearing today, Farouk has been granted bail by
the court. However, the case is still opened and the player is still under
investigation until further notice.
Farouk was in fine form for Aduana Stars before the
unfortunate incident. He was named NASCO man of the match in the club’s 2-1
victory against Inter Allies in gameweek 16.
According to reports, Farouk had his visa ready and was
preparing to travel abroad to play for a club in America.
