The
reopening of all academic institutions especially the various Senior High
Schools across the 16 regions of Ghana by President Akufo-Addo served as a good
news to all students, teachers and parents as all academic activities resumed.
However,
the unexpected has happened as a piece of recent sad news coming from GNAT clearly
depicts otherwise after few months of resumption of academic activities in all
the various Senior High Schools across the country.
According
to the general secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT),
Thomas Musah Tanko, all SHS may close down by the close of next week due to
lack of food supplies.
Speaking
in a recent interview with TV3 Network, He emphatically stated that all SHS
across the country may have to be closed down due to the lack of food and other
related supplies.
“Attempts
have been made and it looks like there are challenges and if there are
challenges then come out to tell the people but to create the impression that
all is well; we can not say all is well. The schools are on their knees, if
nothing is done, we might be here and all we’ll hear is that the schools have
to be closed down….because there will be nothing to take care of the children
in the schools”, Thomas Musah Tanko emphatically stated.
