The
Accra Circuit Court chaired by Her Honour Evelyn Asamoah has rejected the
prayers of Nana Ama Mcbrown’s attorney for the Court’s witness subpoena to be
overturned.
Mcbrown, a subject of the court’s witness subpoena in the
case where Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, aka Bulldog, is on trial, voluntarily
appeared without the subpoena served on her.
In
court on Friday, his attorney Dennis Agyei Dwomoh prayed for the court to
rescind the court order because the witness voluntarily appeared in court.
When
the matter was called, the attorney for the subpoena witness told the court
that they found on the news that the court had issued a witness subpoena to his
client based on a request made by the prosecution.
According
to him, the news surprised them.
He said that although they have not been served with the subpoena of witnesses,
they considered it convenient and obligatory to appear and attend the court in
this matter.
According
to the lawyer, it was important to correct the impression that was given there
that the witness did not want to appear in court and prayed to the court that
the subpoena be set aside.
The
court after listening to the Mcbrown’s counsel said no reasonable account was
adduced to justify why the summons should be set aside.
