Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has added his voice to the
ongoing discussion about Government taxing citizens to pay for the free water
and electricity used during the pandemic.
The
Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, in an interview on JoyNews, said that
Government is introducing a 1% tax on Ghanaians to defray cost of free water and
electricity used during the pandemic.
His
statement has made Ghanaians very furious as to why the government is asking them
to pay for something they said was free.
Prince
David Osei who campaigned on behalf of New Patriotic Party during 2020 election
has reacted to the news of Government taxing Ghanaians to pay for the free
water and electricity.
In a
post shared on his Instagram page, he said that Government should find another
way of paying the cost than placing the cost on Ghanaians to pay after they
offered for free.
According
to him, what the government is trying will make person like himself who
campaigned using free water and electricity during 2020 election look mindless
since they are now taxing citizens to pay.
