A late strike from Mehdi Taremi ensured Porto
grabbed a late 1-0 win against Chelsea in the 2nd but the Blues qualifier for
UEFA Champions League semi final with a 2-1 aggregate.
An evenly balanced first half encounter which saw the away
side doing more of the attack and pressing while Thomas Tuchel’s side sits back
and soak in all the pressure which they also created something.
Porto was very good as they
controlled things in the early stages as they dominated play and bossed ball
possession while they threatened so much which the Blues had answers to every
attack.
Chelsea almost concede a goal
when Edouard Mendy committed a blunder which unfortunately he was lucky not to
have caused his side a goal, thanks to lucky defending which saw the ball went
for a corner kick.
The game went on without anything else coming except wasted
opportunities from the two sides by it was the away side who had more of it
while the Premier League side defending for their lives as it carried on.
It finally came to an end in the
first half encounter with Chelsea 0-0 Porto as they both headed for the break
without a goal scored despite the huge amount of chances created by the two
teams who were very good.
Second Half Report Chelsea 0-1 Porto
It was a brilliant second half
encounter which started out good for the home side who came alive bossing play
and creating the chances which they failed to convert early thanks to dogged
defending by the Portuguese side.
Chelsea were brilliant going
forward as Mason Mount tried one which was block and also some other few
opportunities that failed to give the Blues fans something to cheer about as
they dream of semi final ticket.
Porto were second best as the second half progressed which we
saw them making changes as time kept running out with them almost scoring but
Edouard Mendy comfortably saved for the Blues.
It was more opportunities coming and going without anyone
finishing off as the home side were relaxed before Mehdi Taremi slotted in to
make it 1-0 thanks to an outstanding strike which was unstoppable.
The match finally came to and
end with Chelsea 0-1 Porto as the Portuguese side got the winner but crashed
out 2-1 on aggregate which Thomas Tuchel’s side moved on to the semi final of
the UEFA Champions League waiting for Real Madrid or Liverpool.
