One of the strengths of Chelsea FC has been a robust defense
and Thomas Tuchel has been doing well in that regard.
Now the Blues may found themselves a new defence Marshall
after the retirement of John Terry and exit of Carry Cahill. Since the exit of
those two, particularly Terry, Chelsea has struggled to find a really top class
and domineering leader at the back. That has been part of the reason the club’s
defence has suffered recently, letting in uncharacteristically cheap goals all
season.
However, the club has solved that problem this season with
the signing of former PSG captain Thiago Silva. The Brazil international, just
like the likes of John Terry and Carry Cahill is a natural leader and a born
winner. This season, he has become Chelsea’s new leader as well as their
defence general. Whenever he plays, there is an observed natural tempo at which
he detects the run of play from defence.
Chelsea fans will be hoping their new defence general stays
at the club beyond this season, having initially signed just a one at Stamford
bridge. The good news is that according to recent rumours, the former PSG and
current Brazil is set to remain at the club for at least another year.
