Chelsea have been backed to win the UEFA Champions League trophy
once again after beating Fc Porto to secure a place in the semi-final against
Real Madrid.
Stuart Pearce has labeled
Chelsea the team to beat at the moment as they are set to face Real Madrid in
the Champions League semi-final for a chance to lift the trophy just like they
did in 2012 against Bayern Munich.
Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1
on aggregate in the quarter-final to book their place in the final four after
playing a goalless draw in the second leg which will see them go up against
Thomas Tuchel’s side.
Chelsea managed to go past Porto
despite losing 1-0 in the second leg and with the quality
shown already against Atletico Madrid and the Portuguese side, the Blues have
been tipped to advance to the final and win it.
The other set of semi-final game will see Manchester City
take on Paris Saint-Germain with both sides having to go through against
Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich respectively to get to this level.
There is a
possibility for an all English final if both Premier League sides get to move
through as they will be up against each other in the FA cup on Saturday which
will be the first time Tuchel will face the League leader.
Here Is What Stuart Pearce Said
“We’ve got two outstanding ties on our hands. Delighted the two
English clubs have been kept apart,” former England defender Pearce told talkSPORT.
“We’ve got an
opportunity of an all-English final (Chelsea). It’s almost impossible to call,
both semi-finals. Some top, top quality. Just sit back and enjoy it.
When asked if Chelsea can win against Real
Madrid, Pearce replied:
“No doubt in my mind about that.
They (Chelsea) are the team at the moment showing absolute top quality.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if they
won the semi-final of the FA Cup and went all the way to the Champions League
final.”
