All
the latest Chelsea injury news and team latest ahead of the Blues’ Premier
League clash against Crystal Palace
Chelsea are back in Premier League action on
Saturday as Thomas Tuchel’s men look to reassert themselves in the race for a
top four spot.
The Blues bounced back from their shock defeat to West Bromwich
Albion last weekend with an impressive 2-0 win over Porto in their Champions
League quarter-final first leg tie on Wednesday.
Goals from Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell means the Blues will
be confident of reaching the last four of Europe’s premier competition where
they will face either Real Madrid or Liverpool.
In the meantime, the Blues must negotiate a test against Palace at
Selhurst Park.
Ahead of the game, we have rounded up all the latest injury news
on wh will be available for Chelsea for their trip to south London.
N’Golo Kante
The Frenchman missed out on international duty and the West Brom clash with a hamstring injury, but returned to the bench for the Porto clash and came on as a substitute.
He is set to be available for selection against Palace.
Thiago Silva
Thiago Silva returned from injury to face West Brom and it
couldn’t have gone much worse for Brazilian after he was sent off in the first
half.
The red card means the veteran centre-back will be suspended for
the Palace clash, but is free to return afterwards.
With the ban only applicable in domestic competitions, Silva was
on the bench against Porto in midweek, but came on as a substitute.
Tammy Abraham
Abraham has now missed the last five Premier League games with an
ankle injury he hasn’t been able to shake off in recent weeks.
But he returned to the squad against Porto and was an unused
substitute for the game in Seville.
The England forward will against be available for the trip to Palace, but it remains to be seen if he can break into Tuchel’s starting line-up.
Christian Pulisic
Christian Pulisic caused real concern in the Chelsea fanbase when
he limped off before the start of the second half against West Brom, with a
suspected hamstring problem.
But the USA international was fit enough to return to the squad
for the Porto clash, and Tuchel has confirmed that the winger will be a big
asset for the club in the season run-in.
“I think for Christian fitness is always important because he has
this huge physical impact because of the amount of sprints and the amount of
intensity that he can give to a team on the highest level, this is one of his
biggest strengths,” Tuchel said in his pre-match press conference.
“The other thing is he needs to feel confident and calm
mentally and then he can be a huge weapon for us. He scored in the last game
against West Brom. Unfortunately, the overall game and his need to go off the
pitch at half time clouded the goal and the impact he could have had in that
game. Against Porto he came close to scoring. He had a huge impact from the
bench.
“You have to take care of him and that he hopefully will not
be reinjured because I feel him getting stronger and stronger, more
self-confident and he can be the decisive factor in the next game with his
speed and ability to dribble and his ability to arrive in the box in dangerous
situations and balls from the side and crosses he has the feeling to arrive and
score.
“Hopefully he can have that impact and it is our job to push him there and to calm his mind that he feels the trust and feels confident.
