Injury Update: N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic And Christensen Fitness – Chelsea Injury News Ahead Of Manchester City FA Cup Clash

Chelsea are preparing for an FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City as they look to build on their Champions League quarter-final win over Porto with a spot in the final

Chelsea are back in action on Saturday when they take on Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals.

The Blues are fresh off booking their place in another semi-final, progressing through to the penultimate stage of the Champions League after defeating FC Porto 2-1 on aggregate.

Thomas Tuchel’s men will now look to book their place in the final of the FA Cup, but a very impressive Manchester City stand in their way.

And the Blues won’t be helped by a couple of injury concerns, though they will be pleased to have come through the Champions League tie with Porto with no fresh injury blows.

Here’s the latest as we await an update from Tuchel ahead of the Man City clash.

Andreas Christensen

Andreas Christensen missed the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace due to a knock and could not return in time to face Porto earlier this week.

Tuchel said ahead of the game: “The same with Andreas Christensen, we did not manage to make him fully fit after his muscle injury from the first leg.”

He was named as a substitute, likely for emergency cover, but did not feature.

Nevertheless, the fact that he was deemed fit enough to be on the bench suggests he will return here.

Mateo Kovacic

Kovacic was another player who missed the Porto clash, missing out with a late injury.

“Yeah, we had an injury yesterday which was very sad yesterday in training, so Kova is out,” Tuchel told BT Sport before the game.

It doesn’t sound as though that injury is serious enough to keep him out this weekend, but we will know more when Tuchel provides the latest on Friday afternoon.

N’Golo Kante

There were question marks over whether Kante would return to full fitness ahead of the clash with Porto, but Tuchel was given little option after Kovacic pulled out with injury.

Kante went on to play a full 90 minutes, adding to his substitute appearance against Crystal Palace, so he will be fit to play Manchester City this weekend.
