Information reaching Eghnews.com
indicates that the Ghana Education Service (GES) is set to distribute two
hundred and eighty thousand TMI laptops purchased from a company whose name is
yet to be known to teachers across the country.
During the 2021 State of the
nation address, President Nana Akufo-Addo announced that the government is
facilitating 280,000 laptops for teachers to enhance teaching and learning in
schools.
According to the earlier
information on the payment, the government however will pay for 70% of the cost
of GH¢ 1,550 and teachers will also pay the 30% through monthly deduction.
Information available to Eghnews.com indicates that from 3rd May, 2021 GES will
commence the distribution of the laptops across various District and Regional
levels.
This project was part of the agenda for the National
Executive Council meeting with GES council in January 2021 as a measure to
promote digital literacy among both teachers and students. GES will officially
organise an in-service training for teachers on digital literacy after
distribution.
