Mason Mount Wins Chelsea Fans Player Of The Season 2020/2021 With 80% Of Votes

Chelsea fans name their Player of the Season as Thomas Tuchel discovers his invaluable asset

The majority of Chelsea fans were in agreement over their player of the season so far.

Mason Mount dominated the Chelsea player of the season votes, with more than 80% of fans voting for the midfielder.

The 22-year-old has 15 direct goal involvements (eight goals and seven assists) in 42 games across all competitions for the Blues.

Mount has established himself as a regular in Gareth Southgate’s England team and is set to travel with the squad for this summer’s European Championships.

It comes as no surprise that Mount has dominated his vote after impressing under Frank Lampard, before his departure in January, and Thomas Tuchel since he took over.

It was unclear whether the midfielder would be a prominent figure in Tuchel ‘s team after being such a regular under Lampard.

The German coach left him on the bench for his first match in charge of Chelsea, but ever since, he’s been one of the first names on the team sheet.

In a survey conducted by football London, 82% of Blues supporters voted for Mount as their player of the season so far. 4786 people responded to the survey, with 257 choosing not to vote.

In second was Edouard Mendy – with 12% – who has been brilliant since signing for the west London club last summer from Rennes.

The goalkeeper position at Stamford Bridge was a real problem for Lampard – at the time – with Kepa Arrizabalaga failing to impress between the posts.

But Mendy has brought some much-needed calmness to the Chelsea back line – helping to keep 21 clean sheets in all competitions.

After the goalkeeper is Andreas Christensen, who boasts 3% of people voting for him since his re-emergence into the Blues defence.

Then it’s Cesar Azpilicueta with 2% and Thiago Silva with 1%, with the defensive duo both being pivotal in Chelsea’s strong defensive performance under Tuchel in recent months.
