Welcome to our latest updates on the happenings across Europe
as clubs are putting plans in place to sign their target players.
Manchester United react to Borussia Dortmund
changing Jadon Sancho transfer stance
Manchester United doesn’t have Jadon Sancho as a priority
summer transfer target, according to reports. Borussia Dortmund has claimed
they’re willing to listen to suitable offers for the forward. But a move to Old
Trafford doesn’t appear likely.
Speaking on Monday, Borussia
Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke claimed the club were willing to listen to
offers for Sancho – as long as they’re exceptional.
Instead, United would prefer to sign his Dortmund team-mate
Erling Haaland.
Some publications have suggested interest in the 20-year-old has
cooled, especially with the likes of Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid
and Chelsea also being keen.
Reds to challenge Arsenal for
permanent Martin Odegaard deal
Liverpool could challenge Arsenal for the signature of on-loan
Gunners midfielder Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid this summer.
Red Boss, Jurgen Klopp spoke to and
embraced the Norwegian after the game, and AS believes it could have been more
than an innocent exchange of words.
The German manager was interested in Odegaard when he first took
the Anfield job in 2015, and the player is open to a move to Merseyside.
Arsenal want to make the loan permanent this summer but could
struggle to afford a deal, leaving Liverpool with the opportunity to offer him
a way of staying in England.
Chelsea in contact with
27-year-old free-kick wizard who has 11 assists this season
Chelsea have reached out to the entourage of AC Milan midfielder
Hakan Calhanoglu, according to Sky Italia.
There is no indication yet of his desire to remain at the San Siro beyond the summer, despite the Rossoneri offering him an improved contract of €4m (£3.4m) per term (Sky Italia).
Juventus are said to be the front runners for his signature, whilst Chelsea and Arsenal are leading the Premier League interest.
Barcelona youngster Mingueza: Man City defender Garcia welcome back here
Barcelona defender Oscar Mingueza has welcomed Eric Garcia’s imminent return.
The Manchester City defender is expected to
re-sign for Barca when his contract expires in June. For Mingueza, the Spain
international will be warmly welcomed back. Like Garcia, Mingueza is also off
contract this summer, though insists he would have no problem with Garcia
returning and so threatening his own chance at regular first-team football.
Indeed, Mingueza can see Garcia fitting seamlessly into his new
surroundings given his history with the club’s La Masia academy and also his
time playing for former Barca coach Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
