Thiago Silva has leading Thomas Tuchel’s squad on way to Spain for their Uefa Champions League quarter-final first leg clash against FC Porto.

The Brazilian defender, who enjoyed an impressive first season in England, before suffered an interruption due to injury, sent off against the Baggies in the 29th minute for a second bookable offence.


His sent off proved to be the telling moment as Chelsea completely crumbled from thereon despite Christian Pulisic fired the host in front.

The Baggies scored the next four goals before 2nd-half substitute, Mason Mount, could score a consolation. And Sam Allardyce’s side further twisted the dagger with a late goal to seal the 5-2 score-line.


With Blues prepared for their Uefa Champions League quarter-final first-leg against FC Porto, Silva is available for the selection, since it’s European competitions and the Brazilian star leading Thomas Tuchel’s squad on way Spain.



Due to the travel restrictions between the United Kingdom and Portugal, Uefa released an official statement to announce that both legs of the Uefa Champions League quarter-final between Chelsea and FC Porto will be played on Spanish soil.




The two teams will face each other on Wednesday at Sevilla’s home ground, the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, which will also host the second leg six days later.


Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel has confirmed Christian Pulisic, N’Golo Kante and Tammy Abraham are in all in the 23-man squad for Chelsea’s Uefa Champions League clash against FC Porto on Wednesday.

There had been fitness doubts – especially on Kante and Pulisic – over the trio going into quarter-final first-leg, but the German coach confirmed all three would make up part of the squad.


‘They are fit enough to be in the squad and will be in the squad,’ Tuchel said on Kante Pulisic and Abraham.



‘Christian went out just before an injury could happen, he said it at half-time that if he continued there would be an injury coming so we took him off.


‘Tammy is in the squad and N’Golo did a test and will be on the bench. He is comfortable to be on the bench.’
