A couple of Premier League sides are keeping tabs on Palmeiras midfielder Patrick de Paula, sources have told Sport Witness.
Chelsea and Manchester City,
along with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, have both been watching the
player’s development with the current Copa Libertadores champions.
Patrick de Paula has been
standing out as one of the young stars to have risen from Palmeiras’ youth
ranks, and became one of the important factors during the
club’s success in the past few years.
Both the club and Patrick’s agents have been
contacted by Chelsea and Manchester City to find out more details on his
current situation.
A few months ago, the Brazilian media had
already reported that Manchester City had scouts watching Patrick de Paula in
action during the Copa Libertadores final against Santos. Besides being a
vigorous defensive midfielder, the 21-year-old has also been showing his
quality in passing and attacking transitions.
Palmeiras are believed to be
demanding €25m for his transfer this summer. The player’s career is
currently managed by Giuliano Bertolucci, who has long been involved in some of
the biggest transfers involving Brazilians leaving for Europe.
