Man City and Chelsea are reportedly preparing to go head to head for the services of Bayern Munich versatile defender David Alaba at the end of the season.
The Austrian International will be available for free in the
transfer market at the end of the current campaign, and a number of top European
teams are believed to be interested in securing his services.
Real Madrid and
Barcelona are heavily linked with the 28-year-old defender who has managed to
find back of the net twice and provided two assists in 33 games for the German
champions during the 2020-21 season.
However, according to
the Daily Star, neither of the Spanish teams can afford the £400,000-a-week
deal that Alaba is demanding; following subsequently the financial problems
caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Alaba’s agent Pini Zahavi recently denied talks that his
client has already reached a verbal agreement with La Liga giants Barcelona
over a move to Camp Nou later this year.
The versatile defender has also previously been rumoured
with a switch to Manchester United as possible replacement to Victor Lindelof
who has failed to fulfill his potential.
