Former Aston Villa forward, Gabriel Agbonlahor, has told Chelsea to sign a big striker when the transfer window opens this summer because Timo Werner is too erratic.
Werner didn’t make much
impact on Saturday evening as Leicester City defeated Chelsea 1-0 in the FA Cup
final at Wembley.
The 25-year-old joined
Chelsea from RB Liepzig for £53m last summer.
“I have tried to give him [Timo Werner] the benefit
of the doubt as it’s his first season, but the more I am seeing of him he is
making the wrong decision,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.
“He picked the ball up, running at two
defenders and takes a wild shot over the bar when it is best to make a pass and
another run.
“He seems a bit too erratic and Chelsea, with
their history with the likes of Didier Drogba and the strikers they have had in
the past, they need to go out and buy a big, big striker who can score goals
and turn up in the big games.”
Werner has scored 12 goals and registered 14
assists in 49 matches for Chelsea so far.
