Thomas Tuchel Provides Real Madrid Injury Update For Two Key Players

Chelsea are set to play in their biggest game of the season so far this Wednesday as they look to follow the Chelsea women’s team into the final of the Champions League.

The Blues face Real Madrid in the second leg of the semi final tie after drawing 1-1 in the first leg last week.

With the games coming thick and fast as the season hits the all important run in stages, Chelsea will always have fitness and injury concerns to contend with.

We know midfielder Mateo Kovacic has been out injured for the last few weeks but he is now on the verge of recovery. But as Thomas Tuchel explains below via the Chelsea website, he now faces a race against time and a late fitness test to see if he will be involved this week.

Antonio Rudiger is also a doubt after getting injured in the first leg, but his chances of playing seem a lot more likely, even if he does have to wear a face mask.

“For Toni, I think he will play with a mask,” reported Tuchel.

“He trained on Saturday with a mask so it’s just about him getting used to it.

“It will be a very tight race for Kovacic. He had a little setback and felt something in not the same area but the same muscle as before. It’s very likely that he will not make it unfortunately.

“We have two training sessions now to prepare for Real Madrid so it will be exciting. I’m very happy with this group in the semi-final.”
