Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea Promote The English Virgil Van Dijk To Replace Andreas Christensen Ahead Of The Finals
Chelsea fans held their breath at the sight of their central defender Andreas Christensen being helped off the pitch by medics as they feared the worst with the Dane having found his feet yet again as a Blue.
Former manager Frank Lampard
did not seem to rate the center-back who struggled to get game time under the
club’s icon tenure but he has established himself as a mainstay in the lineups
of Thomas Tuchel.
Christensen is expected to
be out with the tendon injury he suffered against Manchester city although
there is a sense of optimism that the player could be fit to face City in the
finals of the champions league.
The German tactician has however promoted
young English defender Levi Colwill to train with the first team until the end
of the season according to the Sun with the highly-rated centre back dubbed the
English Virgil Van Dijk because of his frame.
There
is a buzz around the club that the young defender could be the next
breakthrough star for the Blues after his starring role for the Andy Myers
coached side which saw them finish as runners up to Manchester City.
Levi has been at the club
since the age of eight and recently signed his contract on his 17th birthday
and his training involvement could just convince Tuchel that he has stumbled on
another gem at the club.
