A full international, Mendes is already Sporting’s
first-choice left-back. He has so far made 26 appearances this season, scoring
once and assisting two more.A former Sporting star himself, Fernandes is keen
for Mendes to join him at Old Trafford. He is actively pushing United to
complete a deal for the young star.
Both Fernandes and Mendes share the same agent and are also
teammates at the international level. United have a long history of signing
players from Sporting and it remains to be seen if Mendes will soon join that
list.
