London based side Chelsea have busy in the last twenty-four hours with the extension of contracts of their manager Thomas Tuchel and their experienced Brazilian central defender Thiago Silva.
The club are
also optimistic they will be able to obtain the signatures of midfielders
N’Golo Kante and Jorginho before they can embark on bringing in new players
from other European clubs.
Amid rumors of
a transfer away from the bridge, the Stamford bridge-based outfit have
performed a dramatic u-turn to secure the signature of their world cup winner
Olivier Giroud for yet another season.
Giroud had
been linked with a summer exit from the Blues with sources even reporting he
could be part of the deal to take Fikayo Tomori to AC Milan and Zlatan
Ibrahimovic had even endorsed a move for the Frenchman.
Italian football journalist
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the former Arsenal striker has signed a
one-year contract extension with his work ethic lauded as the reason for the
new offer.
“Olivier Giroud has extended
his contract with Chelsea until June 2022. Done and signed.”Romano tweeted.
Tammy Abraham is certain to
leave Chelsea in the summer with the Thomas Tuchel led side having been linked
with prolific goal scorers such as Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku and Erling
Haaland.
