Thomas Tuchel has no plans to rest on his laurels after guiding Chelsea to Champions League glory.
Taking a Blues squad that he inherited from Frank Lampard in
January all the way in Europe’s elite club competition is no mean feat, but
it’s now time to stamp his own authority.
With the transfer window set to open
shortly, there’s talk of Chelsea director Marina
Granovskaia completing a stunning £200million triple swoop to
bolster Tuchel’s first-team squad ahead of next season.
Amid talk that the German wants to sign at least three new
players – a right-wing back, a central midfielder and a striker – Adama Traore,
Declan Rice and Romelu Lukaku are three names being linked with a move to
Stamford Bridge.
If Granovskaia is able to pull these deals off
then Chelsea will be a serious force to be reckoned with in the Premier
League title race next season.
Although any prospective signing this summer will have to be
as important as N’Golo Kante.
Speaking about the Frenchman last month, Tuchel revealed the
midfielder was his ‘dream’ player who is key to Chelsea’s chances of winning
major trophies.
“He is the guy you need to win trophies. That is why I am so, so
happy he is here [at Chelsea],” Tuchel said.
“I have dreamed about this player, fighting for this player at any club I was
coaching at and now he is my player.
“For me he is an example, an unbelievable input for any team
in the world.
“He will be key.
“N’Golo is a nice guy, almost a shy person. He is quiet, he
likes his own quality time and he is not loud.
“I see him smile a lot, very shy and polite but I am so
happy that players like him exist.
“It is a pleasure to watch.
“What he is doing with his mentality, a real helper. He
always gives everything to help anybody on the pitch and such a nice, humble
and quiet guy.”
Tuchel has already been proved right about Kante as the
30-year-old delivered a man-of-the-match performance as Chelsea beat Manchester
City in the Champions League final.
