Chelsea Boss, Tuchel Brands Lukaku As A “Fantastic Player”

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel refused to be drawn into questions surrounding interest in Inter Milan striker, Romelu Lukaku.

The European Champions are looking for a striker to replace the departed Frenchman, Olivier Giroud who has left the club this summer for AC Milan.

Lukaku is keen on a move back to Chelsea because he has unfinished business at Stamford Bridge.

Although, Inter Milan have already rejected an offer of £85m plus, left-back Marcos Alonso, Lukaku is said to have told the Serie A Champions to accept a suitable bid.

Inter Milan want around £100m to £102.5m for the 28-year-old Chelsea target and may be forced to cash in on him before the end of the transfer window.

Chelsea Manager, Tuchel refused to delve into their interest in Lukaku despite describing him as a “fantastic player”.

“I will not talk about players who don’t play in my squad, and Romelu Lukaku is a fantastic player, but he’s a player from Inter”

“And it’s with all the respect I will not talk about him in this situation” Tuchel said after a 2-2 pre-season friendly draw with Tottenham Hotspurs.

Hakim Ziyech scored two goals for Chelsea before Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn restored parity for Spurs.

LUKAKU’S FIRST STINT AT CHELSEA:

In August 2011, Lukaku joined Premier League club Chelsea on a five-year deal for a fee reported to be around £10 million, rising to £17 million in add-ons.

He made his debut at Stamford Bridge in a 3–1 victory over Norwich City but spent the majority of the season playing for the reserves and started his first Premier League match on 13th May 2012, against Blackburn Rovers.

He was sent on loan to West Bromwich Albion the next season and subsequently another loan to Everton in the 2013/2014 campaign.

In July 2014, Lukaku left Chelsea to sign a five-year deal with Everton for a club record fee of £28 million,

Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich ‘firmly believes’ he can convince Lukaku to re-join Chelsea this summer.
