Rooney has shared his belief on the Ronaldo transfer saga as the Portuguese is linked to a move to Manchester City
Having used to
be a Manchester United, joining Manchester City would come as a kind of back
stab to his Man United legacy.
Ronaldo is
strongly linked to joining, former rival side, Manchester City with reports
also revealing Juventus has agreed to sell him.
Despite claiming to be unwilling to join Manchester City,
it’s possible we are seeing the deal finally come to light.
The Portuguese is expected to join Manchester City for around
€30m should an agreement be reached with Juventus.
But for Wayne Rooney, there are other reasons aside money on why Ronaldo could be breaking his vows to join City.
Speaking in an interview, the English front man said? “I think Cristiano [Ronaldo] has got a very good legacy at Manchester United and I know how proud he is as a player and a person. I can’t see it [Ronaldo joining Man City], but it’s football so you never know.
“There have been a few that have done it [moving to Man City]
but no one at Cristiano’s level. Obviously Peter Schmeichel and Andy Cole, but
I just can’t see that as an option for him really.
“I think you need to do what’s right for you as a person, for your family. Everyone knows I could never play for Liverpool or Manchester City. That’s obvious but everyone’s different.
“I think people move to clubs where they don’t really want to but from a financial point of view that might be the only option they have, so I might get it from some people’s point of view. But in terms of myself that just wouldn’t be an option.
“If you’re asking if I think it’s possible, I’d have major
doubts that that is a possibility.
“Cristiano’s got a great legacy at Manchester United and I
don’t think that he moves somewhere for financial reasons.”
