Cristiano Ronaldo has already declared war on Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku who joined Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.
Interestingly
both of them played in the same league last season, Ronaldo played for
Juventus, while Lukaku played for Inter.
Now the war
has started between the duo as to who will take the golden boot this season.
Meanwhile, Lukaku is trying
hard to beak the jinx associated with the number 9 jersey at Chelsea.
They both scored two goals each
on Saturday but Lukaku has gotten three goals now while Ronaldo is still on two
goals.
Quite alot of expectations have
already been m placed on the shoulders of Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea following
his big money transfer to Chelsea earlier last month.
The hype around the Belgian
forward also got extra attention when it was confirmed that he would wear the
no 9 Jersey for the London club.
However, while there is a lot of
optimism around the 28-year-old following a bright start to life the season, it
is a fact that things could still easily go sour for the forward might still
succumb to the curse that allegedly comes with the no 9 Jersey at Chelsea given
how badly Lukaku’s predecessors have performed.
With that having been said,
lets take a look at the records of the players who have previously worn the no
9 Jersey at Chelsea.
Mateja Kezman (2004 – 2005)

Hernan Crespo (2005 – 2006)

Tammy Abraham (2019 – 2021)

From the
above statistics one can deduce that players who have previously worn the no 9
Jersey at Chelsea have performed poorly which means Lukaku would have to up his
game if he is to meet expectations wearing the No 9 Jersey at the Stamford
bridge staduim.
