Former President John Mahama has listed 8 major problems he believes are facing the country which the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government is not solving but which the then NDC government was trying to solve before being voted out of power.
The NDC 2020 candidate listed
the economy, high unemployment, politicization of state institutions, mounting
corruption and insecurity appear tops of the challenges. Of these, Mr. Mahama
rated the economy as the most important attacking the Akufo-Addo government for
bringing unbearable hardship and economic mismanagement upon Ghanaians.
Mr. Mahama was speaking at the
Kempinksi Hotel to thank the 6.2million votes he got in the 2020 election even
as rumours swell that Mr. Mahama is eyeing the NDC 2024 top slot.
“The most pressing problem is
the impact of the ailing economy on livelihoods, prospects and dreams. The
consequences of misguided priorities in economic management have led to
unbearable hardship, high unemployment and the frustration and despair felt by
millions of the youth” Mr. Mahama said.
He added: “The others include
the bastardisation and politicisation of state institutions. The mounting
corruption, rising insecurity, abuse of power, lack of investment in critical
infrastructure and abandonment of projects and heavy-handed governance,” he
enumerated.
