“They Say He’s Leaving” – Top Chelsea Star has Made up His Mind on Chelsea Future

“They Say He’s Leaving” – Top Chelsea Star has Made up His Mind on Chelsea Future

Christian Pulisic is being linked with a move away from Chelsea, with the USA winger previously opening up on his future at Stamford Bridge.

Former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko wants to bring Christian Pulisic to Genoa after being appointed as manager of the Italian club, according to reports.

As per a report from Secolo XIX, via the Express, the former Blues striker is a big admirer of the USA international and is looking to bring him to the Serie A in the near future.

Pulisic, who is valued at £45million on football database Transfermarkt, still has around three years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, but the American is now being linked with a departure from the club he joined in January 2019 for around £58m.

The 23-year-old winger has struggled with injuries throughout his time in the Premier League – especially this season, where he has featured just four times in all competitions.

His 10-minute cameo against Burnley at the weekend was his first appearance in the league since the opening day victory against Crystal Palace, where he scored his only goal of the season to date.

However, when Pulisic has been able to get himself on the pitch, he has shown more than glimpses of his undeniable talent and on his day, he can be virtually unstoppable for opposition defenders with his speed and dribbling skills.

With Shevchenko, who left his role as Ukraine boss earlier in the year, apparently wanting to bring Pulisic to Genoa, it is worth looking back at what the American star said over the summer when he was being linked with a move away from Chelsea.

Speaking in May to ESPN, the former Borussia Dortmund winger insisted he was happy at the Blues and that he was enjoying his time in west London.

He said: “Yeah, I am obviously happy here. It has been an incredible two years. People have always doubted and said: ‘Oh, he is not playing, does he want to go here, does he want to go there?’

“I am always up for a challenge, I love competing, I love the position I am in and I am enjoying my time here.”

As mentioned above, Pulisic has struggled with fitness problems this season, so it is understandable that Thomas Tuchel is “worried” about his condition as he jets off to play for the United States over the international break.

Tuchel said: “The answer (to whether he is ready to report for international duty) is if you look at the minutes like you said, the question is maybe answered. I hope that they do not overuse him and are responsible enough.

“Christian still feels some pain. It is a matter of pain management. It is not a matter of a re-injury or being still injured. It is just painful. He has tried hard.

“He wants desperately to come back. We needed him back. It was a good start for him in Malmo. Today he had 10 minutes (against Burnley). We are a bit worried.

“Hopefully everybody, including himself, is responsible and does not get carried away by emotions and by helping his country to win a super important match. Hopefully it all goes well and the minutes will elevate him and he will come back stronger.”
