Rudiger is close to exiting Chelsea with his contract extension talks stalled for a long time now
Chelsea Football Club are reportedly planning on parting ways with
their influential defender, Antonio Rudiger.
The German has since the past months failed to come to an agreement with the club concerning his contract extension.
Rudiger’s contract will be up by the summer of 2022 but Chelsea won’t be looking to lose him for free as they would rather prefer selling him.
Both Real Madrid and Paris Saint German have indicated interests in signing
28-year-old but no official bid has been submitted yet.
The ranks at Chelsea know the player could end up leaving the club this January which would be a severe blow if a replacement isn’t landed before the transfer window shuts.
According to 90mins, Chelsea manager; Thomas Tuchel has already pointed to a player who he admires his player pattern.
Villarreal’s Pau Torres is one player Tuchel believes is a close alternative to Antonio Rudiger and should the German leave then landing Torres will help fill the gap.
Valued at around €70m, Torres although still have his contract in La Liga valid until 2024 but Villarreal could entertain the offer of letting him leave especially if it’s a good one.
Since his debut match in 2016/2017 season, the 24-year-old has managed to clock a total of 100 appearances for the Submarines.
Chelsea will be looking to price him off when the transfer window opens in January.
But this will be only if Rudiger leaves the club as Pau
Torres is mainly chased after as a replacement and not an addition.
