Back to Saturday English Premier League, West Ham United will face log leaders Chelsea Fc this weekend in what will be a keenly contested London derby.
A lot will definitely be at stake for the two teams during the early kick off
game on Saturday, as one man is expected to face his former team for the very
first time this season, and it’s no other person than French defender Kurt
Zouma.
The hammers secured the services of 26 year old defender Kurt Zouma
from Chelsea in the summer for a fee in the region of 29.8 milion.
Recall that Zouma was initially linked with a move to Sevilla, as Chelsea was
keen on a player plus cash deal for Jules Kounde, but Zouma insisted on his
desire to stay put in England, and as such headed for Westham as his preferred
destination in the summer.
So far Zouma have been a key part of Westham’s team this season, as they
currently occupy 4th position on the log, just 9 points adrift of Chelsea who
themselves are top of the league.
Speaking
ahead the game tomorrow, Zouma has had a couple of things to say about the
opportunity of facing his former team for the first time, and i will be sharing
them in this article.
On facing Chelsea
for the first time
Kurt Zouma sounded a bit emotional, as he admitted that it would
be some sort of a special feeling for him as a player, due to the fact that he
spent a long period at Chelsea.
Recall that Zouma joined Chelsea in the summer of 2014 from
French club Saint-Étienne as a 19 year old defender, and spent up to 7 years at
club.
On the result he wants from the game
The Westham defender said that he would love to secure a win
against his former team tomorrow, reasons because he now plays for a new club
and would want his present team to win.
In his words “I want to beat Chelsea because I want to beat
everybody. I play for Westham now and am happy to be here”.
On what he expects
from Chelsea
Kurt Zouma acknowledge that he doesn’t expect the game against Chelsea tomorrow to be an easy one for his team due to how strong Thomas Tuchel’s team are in the league, but he was optimistic that Westham has what it takes to cause an upset tomorrow.
