What could be the fate of Nigeria, Super Eagles and the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja after the ugly incident that saw CAF official lost his life after Nigeria and Ghana played 1-1 draw.
Confederation of African Football (CAF) doctor,
Joseph Kabungo, who was the doping doctor, attached to the Nigeria – Ghana
World Cup match in Abuja has reportedly died after the riot that followed the
match.
Kabungo, a Zambian medical practitioner, was
said to have died shortly after the 1-1 drawn match which saw Nigeria
eliminated from the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Various versions for the possible cause of the death have been
flying. One report has it that the Zambian doctor died as a result of the
stampede that preceded the match.
Another version claimed it was the aftermath of the fans’ pitch
invasion.
According to a report by The Punch newspaper in Nigeria,
Kabungo’s family, the Zambia FA and the Government of Zambia had been informed.
“His name is Dr Joseph Kabungo from Zambia. He was on duty as
Doping officer. He collapsed suddenly and died. Cause of death not confirmed
