Summer Transfer Window is not officially opened but football clubs are on the move to tidy up their transfer targets to avoid last minute rush.
According to the ongoing reports, Antonio Conte
and Tottenham are close to their dream signing during the summer transfer
window.
Tottenham fans have been handed a major hint
amid the potential transfer of Alessandro Bastoni. The 23-year-old has been
heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, with
Antonio Conte eager to bolster his side and sustain Spurs’ Champions League
place.
And, Fabio Paratici is looking to strengthen Spurs’ defence as
his first priority in the upcoming transfer window. Conte and Paratici met on
Friday morning in Turin to discuss the club’s transfer strategy for the summer
and much of the talk is understood to have turned to the defensive side of the
squad.
Bastoni, who has emerged as one of several targets that the
north London outfit are said to be looking at, has impressed again this season
at Inter having won Serie A with Conte prior to the latter’s exit. There are
suggestions that the Italy international is keen on a reunion with the Spurs
boss, but the primary hurdle seems to be prising him away from the San Siro.
However, Bastoni’s latest Instagram activity suggests otherwise.
As pictured below, the defender has posted on his Instagram story with the
caption: “Flying to London.”
He’s also posted an image of himself and fellow Spurs transfer
target Ivan Perisic with the caption: “Good luck brate.”
According to report, Inter won’t accept anything less than
£51million for the centre-half. Bastoni would be a statement signing from
Tottenham as they look to head into a new and successful era under Conte. Of
course, Italy are playing Argentina on Wednesday evening at Wembley Stadium,
and Bastoni has been included in Roberto Mancini’s squad, which most probably
explains the defender’s flight to London.
If Bastoni does eventually make the move to Tottenham though, it
most probably won’t be the only signing Spurs make this summer. Eager to cement
a fruitful future in the competition, The Telegraph claim that Conte wants as
many as six arrivals this window; a centre-back, a right wing-back, two
midfielders, a forward and a back-up goalkeeper.
The Spurs boss told Sky Sport Italia in February: “Four players
left in January. Four important players for Tottenham, two have arrived. So
even numerically instead of strengthening you may have, on paper, weakened.”
In April, though, the Italian boss appeared to dial things back
a little, stressing the impact of the two new signings, Rodrigo Bentancur and
Dejan Kulusevski. Conte said: “I said that with these two players, despite that
we lost four players in January, with these two new signings we made this squad
more complete, with more balance.
“I think that it’s very important in football to have a clear
idea and to have a good vision. Because in this way, the situation is more simple.”
