Qatar Has Bribed Ecuadorian Players $7.4 Million To Lose World Cup Opening Match – Reports Reveal

With just few days ahead of the 2022 World Cup opening match, some bribery allegations have been leveled against the host nation Qatar in their match against Ecuador.

This allegation was made by Amjad Taha, the regional director of the British Middle East Center for Studies and Research, to his over 400,000 followers on Twitter.

He alleged that Qatar has bribed players of Ecuador $7.4 million to lose the opening game of the tournament, to be held on November 20 at the Al Bayt Stadium.

He tweeted; “Exclusive: Qatar bribed eight Ecuadorian players $7.4 million to lose the opener(1-0 ⚽️ 2nd half). Five Qatari and #Ecadour insiders confirmed this. We hope it’s false. We hope sharing this will affect the outcome. The world should oppose FIFA corruption. @MailSport #WorldCup2022”

This is not the first time bribery allegations have been leveled against Qatar and FIFA but the football organization body has refused to comment on the viral story.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Netflix officially released an explosive docu-series that reportedly exposed the rot within FIFA.

The four-part documentary series titled FIFA Uncovered, touched on a variety of subjects, the key among them being how Qatar and Russia were unfairly awarded the hosting rights of the World Cup in 2022 and 2018 respectively.

Netflix based its findings on the opinions of whistleblowers, experts, and former and current officials of FIFA.
